Sateen Collection Egyptian Cotton Sheets – Review
Last summer I visited the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) in Vancouver.
Since we moved away from Vancouver 14 years ago I don’t get to visit it every year so when I do it’s like Christmas in summertime.
My favorite part of the PNE is the Shopping Part. It’s not that often that you get to visit a building cramped
full of some new and some popular products. Not only you get to purchase them for “Today Only Low Price”, but you get to try them out and hear the long speech every salesman a.k.a. product pusher prepared to hook you and real you in.
I used to be an impulse buyer and I have cupboards full of useless items to prove it. These days I am way more picky and I usually take my time and do my research before I buy.
This brings me to my one and only purchase at the PNE last summer.
SATEEN COLLECTION 400 Thread Count Sheet Set in a beautiful red color.
I fell in love with the sheets the minute I laid my eyes on them. The color won me over and after I touched the sheets I was hooked. I didn’t even need the product pusher’s speech , but I decided to humor him. He worked so hard on his spiel….

The label read:” These 100% Egyptian Cotton sheets are made of a high strength microcotton thread that will stay soft & light with a silk-like feeling and color brilliance.
What else can I say….my mind was made up and King size set at $50.00 “Today Only Low Price” was a steal.
We are in a process of building a house so I didn’t have the chance to take my new sheets for a test drive till recently.
My bedroom was finally done. My husband was away on the road so I decided it was the perfect time to take out my new and silky red sheets and indulge myself in some luxury.
First night was heaven…..soft and silky just like promised. In the morning I noticed little bit of piling happening.
Three nights later my bottom sheet looks like crap. It is piling like nobody’s business. The color is fading or rubbing out (both equally bad) and the soft and silky feeling is a distant memory.I can’t even imagine how would this look with two people sleeping in the bed.

So before my hubs comes home I will switch these awful and ugly 100% Egyptian Cotton Sheets for my trusty IKEA sheets that keep their color and shape no matter how much you abuse them. Those Swedish do have common sense.
Sateen Collection Egyptian Cotton Sheets are not worth the money and are the worst sheets I purchased in a very long time.
If you find yourself somewhere at a fair or in a mall step away from SATEEN COLLECTION Egyptian Cotton sheets no matter how pretty they look, how soft they feel and how handsome the product pusher is.
Sateen Collection Egyptian Cotton sheets are not worth a penny in my opinion.
My rating is for this product is -10.

Great review. It sucks when sheets don’t live up to expectations. The moderate thread count could have been part of the problem, but more likely was the weave and finishing process. When the fibers break easily they leave loose ends which ’stick out’ and get spun around causing ‘pills’. It was probably sub-par to begin with and that’s too bad.
Not all Egyptian Cotton Sheets are that way. Don’t let it deter you from trying some in the future.
I had the EXACT same experience, I worked at the PNE last year and purchased not just 1 set but 3! and they were awful!!! I plan to go back this year at let them know how awful they really are.
