Spectacle Lake Provides Great Family Camping

Evening at the lake
I heard through the grapevine about this great lake resort located within 45 minutes drive from our home.
The Spectacle Lake Resort is located in North Central Washington just outside a small town of Tonasket.

Roasting Marshmallows Time
One Friday morning we decided to go for a drive and check it out. We ended up making a reservation for the following Tuesday.
The Spectacle Lake Resort is very friendly family oriented resort. They offer just about anything for a relaxing family vacation.
You can rent RV/Tent site with full hook-up for only $25.00 a night. The sites are not very big, but large enough to accommodate even the biggest RV’s (our trailer is 31’ bunkhouse with slides). Most of the sites are located in the middle of the resort in a park lake setting right beside the heated pool, cookhouses and little playground.
Few sites are located directly on the waterfront. These are smaller, not much shade. If you have an air-conditioning unit and large canopy these are the prime spots. I do not recommend them in you have a tent only due to the shade factor and washrooms/showers being located on the other site of the resort.
No tent or RV? No Problem. The resort also offers little motel units or 2 and 3 bedroom suites on the waterfront.
If you wish to bring your own boat you can use their boat launch and docks free of charge. There is also plenty room for your boat trailer.
We truly enjoyed all the activities the resort has to offer. From fishing, swimming and floating in the lake to biking around the resort and of course friendly game of horseshoes, badminton or volleyball.
My boys loved to go to the games room every night to hang with their new friends. Of course it wouldn’t be camping without the campfire and Smore’s. Almost every site has a little neat fire pit and you can bring your own wood or purchase some right at the office.
Fun at the pool
The office also sells everything you need for fishing, basic camping supplies, ice cream and groceries. They offer pretty good selection of DVD and VHS rentals if you decide to spend the night indoors.
The biggest fun was exploring the Spectacle lake on a paddle boat or a canoe. You can rent paddle boats, canoes and row boats at the resort for a very reasonable hourly or daily rate.
If you ever find yourself traveling through the Northern Washington you must spend few days on the shores of the Spectacle lake. It took us 10 years to realize what a great place we have so close to home.
We combined this camping trip with a visit to the annual Omak Stampede.
This was truly one of the most relaxing family camping trips we ever had and I can’t wait to go back.

Nice site!
