DIY Picture Frame Art Project
The other day I went shopping for a picture frame. I was looking for inexpensive picture frame, but I didn’t wanted it to look plain.
I have lots of old picture frames lying around the house, but they all look old and shabby.
Have you noticed lately the prices of pretty picture frames and picture frame art that fits your decor and personality? It’s outrageous.
The worst part is that the manufacturers use inexpensive picture frame with some sparkly stuff and try to sell it for way more then it’s worth. My kids decorate better then that.
As I was looking around the fifth store trying to find the perfect yet inexpensive picture frame and some pretty inexpensive picture frame art I decided to decorate my own picture frames.
I was so excited about my DIY Picture Frame Project. I couldn’t wait to get home and start decorating picture frames and making picture frame art as well. I knew my kids would be right into that as well.
On the way home I stopped at Dollar Store and bought $10.00 worth of scrap-booking stuff like stick on borders, 3D Gemstone stickers, googly eyes and other little embellishments.
Once at home I dug out my old picture frames. Plugged in my hot glue gun and I was ready to decorate picture frames.
First, I decided to make pretty picture frame art for my little niece.
For this DIY Picture Frame Art I used:
- Old Picture Frame with little Rhinestones
- Sticker Border for Scrapbooks
- 3D Gemstone Stickers
- Black Buttons
- White Button
- Piece of Blue Scrapbook Paper
- Glue Gun
I made this cute picture frame art in blue color because my niece loves blue. I did add a girly touch to it with the 3D Gemstones that complimented the existing rhinestones.

Decorate your old picture frame with border stickers and gemstone stickers.

Cut out piece of paper that will fit into the frame. Sketch whatever art you want to make.
I decided to make my picture frame art using first letter in my niece’s name.
Then apply some glue from the glue gun and arrange the buttons.
Place the paper inside the decorated picture frame and enjoy.
Use your imagination and turn old picture frames or inexpensive picture frames into beautiful art that fits your style and your budget.
Next week I will show you my decorated picture frame.
