Children Learning Websites

If your kids are anything like my two boys (ages 12 and 6) then you go through the same everyday struggle like me. How much time they spend or should spend on the Internet and what are the websites they visit. I do monitor my boys Internet activities very closely, but the dilemma I have is how much playing and how much learning they should be doing while surfing the world wide web. The best scenario is to combine both of the activities. My boys are very math and science oriented. Their favorite shows are the Myth Busters and CSI.  They can watch the Discovery Channel all day long.

I decided to do some homework myself and research some exciting and educational kids websites that are safe and fun.

The kids websites my kids are most interested in are kids science websites. According to my boys the best  science websites for kids are Extreme Science. This is an amazing site for older kids. After discovering this science site my 12 year old was so excited and he visits it everyday. He also loves the Science Explorer. This is a fun kids website full of experiments they can try at home (make sure they have appropriate supervision). Science Monster is another great learning website. My younger son absolutely loves the Nasa Kid’s Club. He loves to play the Buzz Lightyear space game. When they are not fighting like most brothers they love to explore really cool website called Sea and Sky.

We also came across some really cool math websites for kids. If your kids like brainteasers and math games then you must check out learning websites like Prongo and FunBrain. The Prongo is a great learning website for kids as young as 3 years of age.

If you have younger children then should check out kids learning and reading websites. My 6 year old loves to explore site with one of his favorite TV characters  Arthur. He also loves   stories on Berenstain Bears site. Hanging with Sister and Brother Bear is always so much fun. One of the cool websites for kids we came across was Funology. This is a great website full of fun games, magic tricks, experiments and craft ideas. Another fantastic learning website from preschoolers to grade 1 kids is Seussville University. This is an interactive site that teaches them basic reading, science, math and reasoning skills.
The most important part is to have fun while helping your kids discovery all of these fun websites. I bet, you will learn lots of new stuff as well.
